Our common response is to hide suffering away and get on with life - as it once was or as we think it should be.
Let's get to know suffering.
How do we live forward knowing what we now know about suffering?
We often define our identities based on what others expect from us. Because of this, our value, our sense of "who I am" is constantly in flux. What is my identity? Am I valuable? Why am I feeling shame? Why am I often attempting to recreate myself?
We do have a sure identity that is unchangeable and a value that cannot be diminished.
Multiple times per day we take emotional journeys. Some are short-lived. Others settle in for the long ride, lasting days, weeks, even years. It feels like we have no control. After all, we are simply responding in very natural and seemingly merited ways to a catalyst often outside of our control. However, at some point, the entire process comes to a culmination and we look around us with realization and regret. How did I get to this point and is there any way to find my way out?
KANTHA - used to repurpose tattered saris to beautiful blankets with a simple running stitch - is a relevant and welcoming foundation for our journey. Discarded. Scraps. Reclaimed and redeemed to new life, beauty, and purpose.
Yes, there will be needle & thread . . . but this is not about skill [none is needed].
This is:
A setting for peace,
An open door to honest conversation with self and with God,
An opportunity to rediscover the simple beauty of spiritual and emotional expression.
